The opportunity

Offering real scope and influence, this high-profile management role presents the opportunity to transform housing in London. A key member of our senior management team, you’ll lead corporate projects, support the teams to develop and implement new approaches to housing delivery, and drive continuous improvement across our housing functions.

Responsible for identifying new investment and partnering opportunities, you will work closely with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, external partners and other housing functions across the GLA Group. You will also contribute to the development of GLA housing policy and practice, and as part of the senior management team provide support to the Executive Director in delivering GLA’s corporate objectives.

The person

You’ll bring significant senior-level experience of delivering major housing and regeneration programmes. A strategic thinker, capable of translating ideas into action, you will have experience of high-level programme and project analysis, planning and management. Success will depend on your ability to nurture sound working relationships and work cross-functionally, both inside and outside the GLA. You will also be competent at managing risk and quality assurance.

The opportunity

Your skills will be vital to delivering new housing initiatives. Focused on enhancing existing systems and processes, as well as developing new ones, you’ll engage subject-matter experts across the GLA’s Housing and Land directorate for their input. You’ll then scope out and develop business requirements to support diverse housing programmes and projects. We’ll look to you to achieve consistency of approach and best practice, so a focus on training, guidance and governance work will be key.

The person

To succeed, you’ll need experience of developing business requirements and processes that support the delivery of housing projects and programmes. This should include a readiness, to provide constructive challenge to senior managers and operational staff. You’ll know how to evaluate projects and programmes to ensure they are continuously improved and will be experienced in using feedback to identify new tools and systems. Excellent communication skills are essential.

The opportunity

Increasing housing supply, regenerating communities and boosting economic growth – your expertise will be key to ensuring public sector assets work to the benefit of Londoners. This is about investment, direct delivery and risk management: looking after resources for local communities in order to deliver more genuinely affordable homes for Londoners. You’ll develop relationships with investment partners and London boroughs and manage the procurement of services required for different projects and programmes. You will assess funding bids from investment partners, manage investment programmes and be responsible for identifying and driving forward your own new projects, from buying land to developing policies and strategies.

The person

Keeping the Mayor’s housing programmes on track

The opportunity

From budgeting to expenditure, outcomes to impacts, you’ll take the lead in monitoring and reporting on our diverse housing and land programmes. You’ll ensure our management teams have all the financial and performance data they need to stay in touch with progress and address any issues. You will also analyse both qualitative and quantitative data to generate new insights, as well as modelling new investment programmes in line with strategy and future policy direction.

The person

Proficient in the use of IT systems, you’ll have advanced experience of Excel and Business Object or equivalent data analysis tools.  You’re likely to have a relevant qualification or work-based experience, including exposure to large investment programmes. Your proven problem-solving and analysis abilities will be matched by strong communication skills and the ability to translate research outcomes into concise, meaningful reports.

At the same time, the Mayor provides a range of services to help rough sleepers come off the streets and rebuild their lives. The scale of the challenge is huge, but so is our commitment. Together we can build a London for everyone.

The opportunity

£8.45 million a year of GLA funding is spent on the Mayor’s core rough sleeping services such as outreach workers, cold weather shelters and mental health services. You’ll ensure it’s invested where it’s needed most. Supporting a Project Manager, you’ll work across the GLA and with GLA partners to specify major new projects and services for rough sleepers. Involved from procurement to contract management, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to develop your skills.

The person

To succeed, you’ll need a thorough understanding of procurement processes, including relevant legal and operational issues. Good knowledge of policy, procedures and legislation relevant to supplier relationship management is essential, as is experience of contract monitoring for homelessness or other social care services. A strategic thinker and a skilled relationship-builder, you’ll be ready to apply your skills to one of the capital’s most pressing issues.

The opportunity

Contribute your property expertise to high-profile land development across the capital, leading projects that help to create new jobs and homes for Londoners. This will include a key role in accelerating the delivery of new homes on public land. You’ll provide professional advice on procurement, development viability, land acquisition and disposal, and design or town planning. You will identify new initiatives and projects, lead them through the investment approvals process, and report on activity as they progress.

The person

You’ll have significant experience of regeneration or development, including the management of large projects from inception to completion. This requires a sound grasp of technical issues such as procurement, design, project finance, viability and planning. Experience of structuring development agreements and joint ventures in the development sector is vital. You’ll also need to understand the principles of placemaking. Adept at building effective relationships, you’ll have exceptional influencing and negotiating skills.

The opportunity

By providing specialist technical development support, you’ll help public sector landowners to release land and bring forward residential developments. This may include advising on development viability, land assembly strategy, land acquisition and disposal, and design or town planning. You will identify project proposals that meet Mayoral objectives for new homes, economic development and regeneration, and work with various partners to make them happen.

The person

With significant regeneration or development experience and a relevant professional qualification, you’ll have a sound understanding of technical issues such as procurement, design, project finance, planning, and legal agreements for development transactions. You will also have experience of structuring development agreements and joint ventures. You’ll be ready to lead complex projects with multiple, politically sensitive stakeholder groups. While demonstrating good commercial awareness, you’ll have insights into the economic, financial and organisational complexities of the public sector.
